Does every POS machine have its own shift?

Yes. A shift belongs to one device, because the cash drawer sits under that device and one person is accountable for it. Two counters means two shifts, two floats, two counts and two Z reports on the same night. That is deliberate: one shared count across two drawers hides which drawer is short. Reports, Shifts and the POS lists them all together.
