Does the POS have a different renewal date from my plan?

Yes. The plan renews on its own cycle and the POS renews a year from the day you bought it. Both dates are on the Plan and billing screen. If you renew the POS early, the new year is added to the end of the current one rather than replacing what you already paid for.
