I have been sent a credit note. Does that mean my invoice was wrong?

Not necessarily — it means something was reversed after its invoice had already been issued. Invoices are never edited or deleted once numbered, so the only honest way to undo one is a second document that reverses it. Credit notes have their own tab and their own numbers beside your invoices.
