Is the drawer count the same as my sales for the day?

No, and they should not match. Sales include cards, gift cards, store credit and house accounts, none of which put a note in the tray. The drawer holds cash only. That is why the closing screen shows both: total sales for the day, and separately what should be in the drawer. Comparing the wrong pair is the commonest reason a count looks wrong.
