What is a Z report?

The written record of one shift. It lists the sales and how many, how they were paid line by line, refunds, sales cancelled after printing, discounts given, the float, money in and out of the drawer, what should be in the drawer, what was counted and the difference. Each one gets a Z number that never repeats, so days file in order.
