Google Maps link refused as too long — which link does Get Menu want?

The short one from Google Maps' Share button. Open your restaurant on Google Maps, press Share, then Copy Link — it starts with https://maps.app.goo.gl/ and is about 35 characters. The link in the browser's address bar is several hundred characters of tracking data and is refused on Settings → Branding & logo. The Design & appearance tab in the docs shows the two clicks with screenshots.
