The margin on my biryani is shown in amber. Do I have to raise the price?
No. Amber means the margin is under fifty per cent, and it is a nudge to look rather than a rule. Some dishes are meant to be cheap and bring people in. Before touching the price, check the recipe on Menu → Recipes & food cost: a portion typed in kilograms instead of grams turns a fine dish amber at once. Then check the ingredient costs on Ingredients & suppliers, because the cost per unit is the average of what you have paid, and one dear delivery moves it. If the numbers are honest and the margin is still thin, you can raise the price, shrink the portion, or leave it as the dish that fills the room. Food cost control software cannot make that choice for you, but it shows you the figures to make it with.
