What is the card machine end of day figure for?

It is the batch total your card machine prints when you settle at night. Type it into the closing screen and the Z report shows it beside what the POS took on card, with the difference. It is optional, and it is the fastest way to catch a sale taken on the machine but never rung up, or the other way round.
