Free WhatsApp link generator
Turn your number into a wa.me link with the first message already typed, and take the QR code with you. No account, no expiry - and the number is checked and formatted in your browser, so it never reaches us.
The number people should message. Type it however you like, with spaces, dashes or a leading zero, and it is tidied for you. Nothing is sent anywhere.
This is typed into the chat for the customer, who still has to press send. 0/600
Enter a number to see the link and its QR code.
What a wa.me link is
It is WhatsApp's own click-to-chat address, and its whole value is one removed step: the person who taps it starts a chat with you immediately, without saving your number as a contact first. That step is where most people give up. Put the link in your Instagram bio, on your Google Business profile, in the caption of a post, or behind a QR code on the window, and every one of those places becomes one tap from a conversation.
The format, and why it is nearly always what broke
A click-to-chat link takes the full international number as digits only: https://wa.me/971501234567. No plus sign, no spaces, no brackets, and no leading zero after the country code. A UAE mobile written the way people say it out loud - 050 123 4567 - becomes 971501234567, because the 0 is a trunk prefix that only exists for dialling inside the country. Leave it in and the link opens to an error.
The other cause is a landline. WhatsApp accounts live on mobile numbers, so a link built on a 04 or 06 number cannot work no matter how it is written. This tool refuses both cases by name, before you print anything, using the same number rules the ordering system itself uses at checkout.
The pre-filled message
The ?text=part types the first line into the chat for the customer. They still have to press send, so it is a prompt, not a message sent on their behalf. Keep it short and specific: “Hi, I would like to order” beats a paragraph, because a long message makes a denser QR code and it is the customer's own words that follow it anyway. A useful trick is to encode where the link was tapped - a different first line on the window sticker than in the Instagram bio - so your chat list tells you which one is working.
Where WhatsApp ordering starts to hurt
At ten orders a day, a chat is genuinely the best system there is. At fifty it stops being one. Somebody has to read each message, work out whether “the usual” means the large one, add it up by hand, type the total back, chase the address, and hold all of it in their head while the phone keeps buzzing. Nothing is written down in a form anyone can total at the end of the week, the item that ran out at eight is still being ordered at nine, and a mistyped total is a real loss nobody notices.
The fix is not to leave WhatsApp - it is to stop making WhatsApp do the arithmetic. A menu page takes the order, prices it, and sends the confirmation to the customer on WhatsApp anyway, so the customer's experience is the same conversation and the restaurant gets a real order it can count. Payment stays where it already is: cash or the card machine at the door, so no card details exist anywhere in the system to be lost.
That is what Get Menu is, if you want the second kind - one page per restaurant, the order landing on your WhatsApp, 0% commission on every order, and a 15-day trial that asks for no card. See how it works.
