Loyalty & rewards
Stamp cards, rewards, member tiers, and a digital loyalty card your customers keep on their phone.
Read the walkthrough script for this guide
- Marketing, Loyalty and stamps — under 'Bring them back' in the left-hand bar. Everything a customer earns is set on this one page.
- Choose how stamps are earned: one per completed order, one per amount spent, or one per qualifying dish you tick. Then how many stamps make a reward — keep it small, buy five get a free karak beats any clever scheme.
- Choose the reward: a percentage off, or a free item. Then how it reaches them — a single-use code by WhatsApp, or applied automatically at their next checkout, bound to their own number so there is nothing to share.
- If the 'Loyalty program active' box is greyed out, read the line beside it. It means the settings as saved would collect stamps that could never turn into anything — a free-item reward with no item picked, or per-spend earning with no amount. Fix what it names and it unlocks.
- When an order counts: orders you mark delivered earn immediately, and two timers catch the ones nobody closed. Set both to one minute while you are testing and watch a stamp land.
- Customer tiers, on the same page. Three levels you name yourself, reached by completed orders, each giving status, a coupon on arrival, or a percentage off every order automatically. That last one is real money forever, and the page says so in amber.
- A tier discount never stacks with a typed coupon: the customer gets whichever is worth more, and the losing coupon is handed back unused rather than burnt.
- Now the wallet card. Marketing, Wallet passes, Card design. Pick a preset or set the colours yourself — anything below the contrast threshold is refused, because a card nobody can read is worse than no card.
- Two previews sit side by side: the everyday card, and the state the card actually exists for — when a reward is waiting.
- A customer adds it after ordering. It sits in their phone next to their bank cards. When they earn a stamp, the card in their pocket updates itself and the phone can show it on the lock screen. No app, no download.
- The Invitation tab is the one message that tells a new customer the card exists — after their first order, once per customer, at a delay you choose. It has no on-off switch on purpose: it is part of offering the card.
- Bonus stamps for adding it are worth considering: a cardholder is reachable free, through a channel nobody can ban.
- The Broadcast tab is that channel. One short line pushed onto the cards you choose — ninety characters, one a day, and you must set the date the offer ends so it removes itself from the card.
- Reports last: cards issued, how many holders, the phone split, install rate, and what cardholders spend against everyone else. Outstanding stamps are reported in STAMPS and never in money — a stamp has no cash value until it is redeemed against a price on the day.
Step by step
Set up your stamp card programme
Completed orders earn stamps; a full card earns a reward. One form, one Save button.
- Open Marketing → Loyalty & stamps.
- Under 'Stamp card program', choose how customers earn: per completed order, per amount spent (fill 'AED per stamp'), or per qualifying item (tick the dishes).
- Set 'Stamps for a reward' (2–100). Keep it simple — 'buy 5, get a free karak' beats any clever scheme.
- Choose the reward type — a free item or a percentage — and fill the matching field.
- Choose how the reward reaches the customer: 'WhatsApp them a single-use code', or 'apply automatically at their next checkout' (auto-apply binds the reward to the earning customer's own number).
- Check 'When an order counts': orders you mark delivered earn immediately; the two timers catch the ones nobody closed. Set both to 1 minute to watch a stamp land while testing.
- Tick 'Loyalty program active' and press Save. If the box is greyed with 'This program cannot fire yet', fix exactly what the warning lists first.
- Spare stamps above the goal carry over (12 of 10 leaves 2 on the new card), and switching the programme off later erases nobody's stamps.
Design the wallet loyalty card
The card your customers keep on their phone — colours, wording, and what a message says.
- Open Marketing → Wallet passes, 'Card design' tab.
- Pick a preset look — 'Your theme colour' follows your storefront theme and re-colours the card whenever the theme changes — or set card and text colours yourself; anything under 4.5:1 contrast is refused (a dark card with light text is perfectly normal for a pass).
- Under Wording, set the card name (max 30 — blank uses your restaurant name) and reward wording (max 40 — blank uses your programme's own text).
- Under Messages, set the message heading (max 20 — the one line a phone shows above every card message) and the reward-earned wording (max 60). Never type the code or expiry yourself — both are added automatically.
- Decide 'Show my logo on the card' (Apple only — Google requires a logo and always shows it).
- Check the two previews: the everyday card, and 'When a reward is waiting' — the state the card exists for.
- Press Save design. The page says how many installed cards will update; they refresh themselves within minutes.
Invite customers to add the card — and reward the install
One automatic message after somebody's first order, plus optional bonus stamps.
- Open Marketing → Wallet passes → 'Invitation' tab.
- Set 'Send it this many hours after the first order' (1–168, default 4). Anything due outside 10:00–21:00 waits for morning.
- Write the message (max 400 characters; {name} and {restaurant} fill in) or leave blank for the default. Never type a link — each customer's link is added automatically.
- Press Save invitation. There is deliberately no on/off switch — it stops when your loyalty programme stops.
- Optional bounty: back on Loyalty & stamps, tick 'Give bonus stamps for adding the wallet card', set 1–10, save. Granted once per customer, ever.
Send a wallet broadcast
One short line pushed onto the cards you choose. Free, unbannable, and capped for exactly that reason.
- Open Marketing → Wallet passes → 'Broadcast' tab (one per day — the button is inert if you sent one in the last 24 hours).
- Pick the audience under 'Who gets it' and fill the numbers the choice reveals; watch the live count — over 500, only the 500 oldest cards receive it.
- Write the message: max 90 characters, one offer, one line. No {name}, no links, no replies — it is a card message, not a chat.
- Set 'This offer ends on' (tomorrow to 90 days). It leaves the card by itself that day; Android nudges two days before, free.
- Press 'Review & send broadcast' and confirm — the confirmation names the exact card count and end date.
- Read 'Your last broadcast' after: lock screens reached, delivered quietly (Android's 3-per-day card-notification quota already spent — the message still arrived, without the lock screen), iPhone cards updated, still going, undeliverable.
Set up customer tiers
Earned by completed orders; worth status, a code, or real money off every order.
- Open Marketing → Loyalty & stamps → 'Customer tiers' and tick 'Run customer tiers'.
- Name each of the three tiers (max 24 chars) and set 'Completed orders to reach it' — each threshold above the previous (shipped ladder: 2, 6, 15).
- Choose what each gives: status only, a coupon code on reaching it, or '% off every order, automatically' — and fill the matching field.
- Read the amber warning: a percentage tier is real money off every order, forever. It never stacks with a typed coupon — the customer gets whichever is worth more, and a losing coupon is handed back unused.
- Write the tier-up message ({name}, {restaurant}, {tier} fill in; what the tier gives is appended automatically).
- Press Save. Tiers recompute from delivered orders every time — a cancelled order never leaves someone a level too high.
Set up win-back messages and the quiet-regular nudge
Two different jobs: the ladder chases customers who stopped; the nudge catches regulars before they do.
- Open Marketing → Loyalty & stamps → 'Win-back ladder' and tick 'Run the win-back ladder'.
- For each of three stages: tick it, set 'Days since their last order' (each stage later than the one above), optionally a coupon code, and the message. Stage 1 usually carries no discount — a reminder is cheaper than a coupon.
- Each customer gets at most ONE message per run (the latest stage they qualify for), and the ladder resets the moment they order again.
- Optionally tick 'Rescue customers who ordered once and never came back' below, with its own days, code and message. Save.
- For the other half, open Marketing → Quiet regulars and tick 'Nudge regulars who have gone quiet'.
- Set 'How far past their usual gap' (1.5–5×, default 2) and the per-customer cooldown (30–365 days, default 90) — the box below translates your numbers into real days for 3-, 7- and 21-day regulars.
- Know what it will not do: nothing to anyone under 4 orders, rhythm read from their last 11 orders, never within 5 days of an order, and it stops at your earliest win-back stage — nobody can receive both.
Common questions
How do stamp cards work?
You pick the earning rule — one stamp per order, per amount spent (e.g. every 20.00), or per qualifying item — and the goal (e.g. 8 stamps). Stamps accrue automatically when orders complete; no punch cards, no staff steps. Spare stamps above the goal carry over to the next card.
When exactly does a stamp land?
When the order is delivered — or, if nobody presses Delivered, when the automatic completion timer closes the order later. Cancelled orders never earn stamps.
What rewards can I offer?
A percentage discount or a free item. Redemption is your choice of two modes: a single-use code sent by WhatsApp (the customer types it at checkout), or auto-apply — the reward attaches itself to that customer's next order with no code at all.
How does auto-apply know it's the right customer?
By the WhatsApp number on the order — the reward belongs to that number and is claimed exactly once, even if two orders race. The customer sees the reward itemised at checkout.
What are member tiers?
Levels (e.g. Silver/Gold) earned by order history that grant an automatic percentage discount at checkout — no code needed. If a member also types a coupon, they get the BETTER of the two, never both stacked; a coupon that loses the comparison isn't wasted (its use is given back).
What is the digital loyalty card?
A real card your customer keeps on their phone, in the card holder their phone already has. No app to download and nothing to install. It carries your branding, the live stamp count, referral credits, and a line with the reward code when one is waiting. When stamps change, the card updates itself on their phone — they do not have to open anything.
How do customers get the card?
An 'Add to Wallet' link is offered after checkout (and in loyalty messages). One tap, the card is in their wallet — no app install, no signup. Each restaurant's card carries its own design.
Can I design the card?
Yes — the wallet designer offers curated theme sets (contrast-checked so text stays readable), an editable header line, and a live preview. Design changes re-render the cards customers already hold.
Can I message customers through their wallet card?
Yes — wallet broadcasts put a short message on the card and can trigger a phone notification. Google enforces a quiet limit of about 3 notifications per card per day, so the platform counts them: by default your marketing may use 2 of them and the third is reserved for telling somebody their reward is ready. You can raise your marketing share to all 3 on the Broadcast tab — but then a “your reward is ready” message can be the one Google delivers silently. Nothing above 3 is possible: Google accepts a fourth message, stores it on the card and never shows it to anybody.
What is the wallet-exclusive item?
One menu item only wallet-card holders can order. Everyone sees it — locked — which is exactly what makes people add the card; holders open your page from the card's link and can order it. You choose the item in the menu settings.
Do wallet cards leak customer data?
No. The pass contains no phone number and no name in its data; its update mechanism is engineered so wallet infrastructure never learns your customer list. This was verified deliberately — privacy on the pass is structural, not a setting.
What is the churn-risk early warning?
The platform watches each regular's ordering rhythm; when someone falls well past their usual gap, a gentle win-back can be queued through your normal marketing controls (caps, window, your approval where required). You set the frequency; it never fires behind your back.
What is the dormancy win-back?
A 'we miss you' message for customers inactive for a period you choose, optionally carrying an incentive. It runs through the same marketing gate as everything else — capped, windowed, and excluded for numbers that recently failed.
Do stamps expire?
Rewards carry an expiry when configured; the card shows the reward and its expiry so the countdown itself nudges a visit. Earned stamps sit on the card until they convert to a reward at your goal.
What happens to loyalty when I change the rules?
Existing stamps and waiting rewards are preserved; new accruals follow the new rules from that moment. Avoid changing the goal downward mid-cycle if you can — customers notice.
Where do I see the programme's numbers?
The wallet/loyalty reporting view shows cards issued, stamps outstanding (your liability, counted in stamps), rewards earned and redeemed, and passholder counts — enough to know whether the programme pays for itself.
What are referral credits on the card?
If your referral programme is on, the card shows the customer's referral credit standing — a visible reminder that recommending you pays. Referrals themselves are configured under Promotions.
Does the card work on both iPhone and Android?
Android works today. The iPhone version is built and finished, and is waiting on an approval from the phone maker for our business account. When that lands, iPhone cards switch on with nothing for you to do and nothing to change.
Can a customer delete the card or mute it?
Yes, from their wallet app, any time — deleting the pass or muting its notifications is entirely in their hands (and that's stated on our support page). Their stamps still exist on your programme; the card is a window onto them, not the ledger itself.
The 'Loyalty program active' box is greyed out and says the programme cannot fire. Why?
Because the settings as saved would collect stamps that could never turn into anything. The page names the exact reason: a free-item reward with no item picked (or one that left the menu), a percentage reward with no percentage, per-spend earning with no AED-per-stamp amount, or per-item earning with nothing ticked. Fix what it lists, save, then switch it on — nothing already saved is lost meanwhile.
Can I make stamps land faster while I test?
Yes — under 'When an order counts' both completion timers are in minutes; set them to 1 and watch a stamp land. Shipped values: 720 minutes after you accept an order, 900 after placement if never accepted (1 minute to 14 days allowed). A timer running out never marks an order delivered and never changes a report. By default it only lets loyalty catch up and messages nobody — the two optional switches beside it (follow-up messages, and referral payouts and game prizes) are the only things that change that, and both start off.
What do the tick boxes under the timers control?
'Stamp cards', 'Customer tiers' and 'Referral payouts and game prizes' decide what the completion timers may move. The first two start ON; the third starts OFF and stays off until you choose it, because it pays out real rewards for orders nobody confirmed arrived. Untick everything and loyalty counts only orders you mark delivered. An order still waiting to be accepted never pays out either way.
How many tiers are there, and what can each give?
Three, in a fixed ladder you name yourself — shipped thresholds 2, 6 and 15 completed orders. Each tier gives one of: status only, a coupon code on reaching it, or a percentage off every order automatically. Tiers are recomputed from delivered orders every time, never stored, so a cancelled order never props someone up a level.
What are streaks, anniversaries and savings statements?
Three recurring notes that celebrate a customer instead of discounting to them, all off until enabled. Streaks congratulate consecutive weeks with a delivered order at milestones you set (4/8/12 by default) — nobody is ever told they broke one. The anniversary marks a year since their first order (no birthdays, deliberately — that would mean collecting a date of birth). The savings statement is a monthly 'you saved AED X with us', sent only past a floor you set.
What is the sold-out apology?
When a checkout fails because an item ran out while it sat in the cart, the customer can be sent a small single-use code and told why. Only for people who have ordered before, one live code each at a time. The codes are ordinary coupons named SORRY-XXXXXX, valid 7 days, visible under Marketing → Coupons like any other.
Can I give bonus stamps for adding the wallet card?
Yes — 'Wallet card bonus' on the loyalty page grants 1–10 stamps for installing the card, once per customer EVER: deleting and re-adding grants nothing, and adding it to both Apple and Google still grants once. It buys more than stamps — a cardholder is reachable free through a channel nobody can ban.
How big can a wallet broadcast be, and how often?
90 characters, at most 500 cards at a time, one broadcast per day. You must pick the date the offer ends (tomorrow to 90 days out) — the message removes itself from the card that day, and Android nudges the customer two days before it ends, free. If more than 500 cards match, the 500 oldest receive it.
What do the wallet Reports numbers actually count?
Active cards and their holders, the iOS/Android split, install rate (cardholders as a share of customers with a delivered order), orders placed after a card was added, dormant customers won back, and cardholder lifetime spend against everyone else. There is deliberately no AED figure for outstanding stamps — a stamp has no cash value until redeemed against a menu price on the day — so liability is reported in stamps, never money.
What is the wallet Invitation tab?
The one automatic message that tells a new customer your card exists: after their first order, once per customer ever, with a delay you set (1–168 hours, default 4 — after the food arrived, not while they wait). It deliberately has no on/off switch: it is part of offering the card, and it stops the day you turn the loyalty programme off.
